Are you wondering about the various attractions and things to do in the Gloucester area? You’ve come to the right place! In the list below, we’ve taken a closer look at some of our favourites.

There can be no denying the amazing natural surrounds of the Gloucester area, which offer ample opportunities to get outside and breathe in the fresh air. If you’re travelling during the winter, you may even be lucky enough to see snow at picturesque Barrington Tops! Some of the more popular sites to visit include Gloucester Tops National Park, Barrington Tops State Forest, Copeland Tops State Conservation Area, and Woko National Park.

Horse Riding

Why not see the region in style by joining a trail ride? At Camp Coburk, you will explore rugged mountain trails, crystal clear mountain waters and be able to enjoy the panoramic views afforded to you. Trails are suitable for beginners and experienced riders alike – all riders given a horse that matches their capabilities and instruction is provided before the ride commences to ensure that you are completely comfortable on the back of your mount.

There is no better way to enjoy the region’s delicious local produce than by touring the local wineries. Whether you enjoy reds, whites or a little of both, you are sure to find a drop or two that you love. In particular, we recommend: Villa d’Esta Winery, Tugwood Winery, Gloucester River Winery, Gap Hill Winery and Faulls Ridge Winery. Don’t forget to have a wander of the winery grounds too, as many of them have amazing views of the surrounding region.

Adventure Centre

If you’re the kind of person who loves to get their adrenalin pumping, the Barrington Outdoor Adventure Centre is for you. Try your hand at kayaking or canoeing along one of the crystal clear rivers, or hit The Steps Mountain Bike Park to put your bike through its paces. You could also join one of the skills clinics in abseiling, orienteering and survival skills. Or you could sit back and relax on a day tour of the mysterious Barrington Tops.

There are a number of events that you could be lucky enough to experience during your stay – the Gloucester Farmers Market is held on the second Saturday of each month, the Gloucester AH and P District Show is held each March, the Wards River Winter Fair Market is held sometime in July and the Mountain Man Tri Challenge is held each September (women entrants welcome!). Our only advice is to book your accommodation early to avoid missing out.

Art & Culture

Why not immerse yourself in the history and culture of the region? Whether you want to learn more about the area and how it was settled or you want to experience the rich community for yourself, there are plenty of things to do. We recommend the Gloucester Gallery (local and more well known artists), Gloucester Arts Cultural Council Inc (music, theatre and comedy), Gloucester Museum and the popular old Mountain Maid Mine tour.
