Attractions

If you’re planning to stay at the Pavlos Motel sometime in the near future, we’re sure that you’ll be interested in some of the local attractions. The good news is that there is plenty to see and do for visitors of all ages.

Art & Culture

For a taste of culture, we recommend heading to North Terrace. This hub is home to the Art Gallery of South Australia (which has over 38,000 amazing pieces from national and international artists in its collection), Australian Aboriginal Cultures Gallery (which features more than 3000 artefacts), and the Adelaide Festivals Centre (which is host to a number of major events, including the Adelaide Cabaret Festival and the Come Out Children’s Festival).

Beaches

If you happen to be travelling during the summer, we’re sure that you’ll want to hit the nearest beach to cool down. Some of the popular locations in the area include: Brighton Beach (walk along the cliffs for some spectacular views of the city), West Beach, Henley Beach, Grange Beach, Semaphore Beach, North Haven (which is also home to the boat marina), Sellicks Beach, Aldinga Beach and who can forget the most famous of them all, Glenelg (only 12km away).

Nature

Want to get up close and personal with the local wildlife? The Adelaide Zoo houses more than 300 different species of animal (be sure to checkout their star attraction, giant pandas Wang Wang and Funi). The Monarto Zoo is known for being the largest open range zoo. If you’re interested in a day trip, head to Kangaroo Island where you can walk through a colony of Australian sea lions or enjoy one of the many walks (suited to all skill levels).

Heritage

If you want to learn more about Adelaide’s history, we recommend checking out the South Australian Museum, Migration Museum, Ayers House Museum, Maritime Museum, National Railway Museum, and the South Australian Aviation Museum. As Adelaide is also known as the “City of Churches”, you should also pay a visit to some of these masterpieces (such as St Francis Xavier Cathedral and St Peter’s Cathedral), some of which have survived since the 1800s.

Shopping

When you’re looking for a little retail therapy, we recommend exploring one of the city’s markets or heading to one of the major shopping precincts. As for markets, the Adelaide Central Market is probably the most-visited but there are plenty of others to explore. Rundle Mall offers a unique shopping experience with over 700 retail stores, 3 major department stores and 15 arcades. If you’re interested in boutique shopping, we recommend heading to Glenelg.
