Some of our favourite walks in the area include the Goldfields Reservoir Walk and the Paddys Ranges State Park Loop.
It should come as no surprise that the Central Goldfields region is rife with historical sites and attractions. In particular, we recommend the Aboriginal Wells (which were dug into the sandstone by the Jajawurrong people), Bristol Hill Lookout, Grand Duke Mine (which operated between 1869 and 1896), Maryborough Railway Station (built in 1890), McLandress Square and the Aboriginal Shelter Tree (believed to be about 700 years old).
If you plan to visit during the summer and are looking for ways to cool down, there are plenty of water related attractions to choose from. Lake Victoria and the Goldfields Reservoir are popular spots, the latter in particular for boating and fishing. You could also take a dip in one of the many pools in the area, including: Dunolly Outdoor Pool, Maryborough Outdoor Pool, Maryborough Sports & Leisure Centre or Talbot Outdoor Pool.

The Dunolly Golf Club offers 18 holes with a relaxed guest code – green fees are only $5. The Maryborough Golf and Bowling Club offers 18 holes with an onsite restaurant, perfect for celebrating a win or commiserating a loss. And the Talbot Golf Club is also home to a picturesque creek and plenty of native wildlife.
