Moore Park Beach Motel
Just a bit of background about myself and my thoughts about the ARRA Accommodation Group.
My partner, Jan, and I purchased the Moore Park Beach Motel about 5 ½ years ago, and signed up as a Budget Motels member a few months later. Having been in hospitality for many years, the latest as an owner of a tavern, I was well aware of the benefits of belonging to a group, whether it be for marketing, buying power or the back-up and support that is made available to members.
As Chairman, I will be the continuing to focus on these benefits for the ARRA Accommodation Group this year, and in the years to come.
Moama Central Motel
My husband Paul and I have been in the accommodation industry for over 20 years in various properties and have seen many changes take place during that time. We have been operating the Moama Central Motel in Echuca-Moama for nearly 5 years and have lived in the area for almost 17 years, operating or working at various properties during that time.
All the previous properties I have been involved with were in major chains so I have been able to gain some insight into the significance of being a member of an accommodation group. I was delighted to be asked to participate on the ARRA board and feel that with my vast business experience I can assist the ARRA Group in its direction and growth. Good, clean, affordable accommodation at reasonable prices, resonates with many travellers and I look forward to getting this message out there.
Jock was the Director for Queensland from May 2005 until retiring at the AGM in November 2016. He was subsequently re-appointed to the Board after the last AGM. Jock and his wife Karen have owned and operated the Motel Myall in Dalby, Queensland, since 1997 after 26 years in the banking industry.
He is an active member of the Dalby Chamber of Commerce and has also chaired the Chamber Tourism Committee.
I entered the motel industry early in 2016 after purchasing Seymour Motel. Prior to getting involved in the accommodation industry, I was working as a Senior Consultant / Project Manager in the Information Management / Knowledge Management / Business Intelligence area which provided me many opportunities to work with many government departments and top-tier organisations.
I am passionate about investing and offering quality customer service. This passion drove me towards the motel industry as an entry point.
In addition to my work, I am heavily involved in different levels of community works, whether they are government entities, school associations, local clubs or ethnic organisations.
Otway Gate Motel
After working a 7 day a week business for 13 years my husband and I decided on a change and bought the Otway Gate Motel, on the 14th November 2003.
Since joining the Chain, I have become very passionate about it and what it stands for. I have attended state meetings every year one was held and have attended all Annual Conferences & AGMs since 2006, as well helping out and being a mentor for new and current members.
Most recently I was co-opted on to the Board of Directors in 2016 and again in 2017.
