The Rose City Motor Inn is situated in Benalla, a small city amongst the High Country of north-eastern Victoria. Accessible in just over 2 hours from Melbourne via the Hume Highway, Benalla is a picturesque treasure to visit, renowned for its beautiful rose gardens, arts scene and heritage attractions.

The motel has a number of different room configurations for guests, including Single Economy Rooms with one single bed for one guest, the Economy Queen Room with one queen bed (sleeping two guests), the Premium Queen Room are spacious rooms with one queen bed (sleeping two guests), the Single Twin Room has two single beds and one sofa bed (sleeping up to three guests), the Double Twin Room with one double bed and one single bed (sleeps three guests) and the Family Room for up to four guests with two bedrooms, one queen bed and two single beds.

Sample some of Benalla’s rich history by taking a Ned Kelly Touring Route. Benalla was the closest town to Kelly’s home and a hive of activity during his bushranging days.. Investigate the popular legend by visiting sites throughout the town.

The Benalla Costume & Kelly Museum is an accredited Victorian museum and the only costume museum of its kind in the state. The museum features a number of major exhibitions including fashion exhibits, vintage toys, paintings and memorabilia dedicated to Benalla’s most notable personalities.

Benalla Regional Art Gallery is a fabulous way to immerse yourself in Benalla’s superior arts scene. The large complex is home to exhibitions from both Australian and International art, and permanent collections of the regions historical European and Australian settlement. The gallery collections have a broad range of works to enjoy from Indigenous and modern art to colonial and impressionist periods, and offers an array of different public programs including ‘Tiny Art Lovers’ classes for children. Benalla Art Gallery has the added benefit of an appealing Gallery gift shop and sublime Gallery Café on the banks of Lake Benalla.

Visit Benalla Performing Arts Centre for enthralling theatre, performing arts pieces, musical events and cinema screenings. The establishment is a theatre, cinema and convention centre featuring 344 seat auditorium, large foyer and cinema kiosk. Local Activities

Some of Benalla’s most attractive activities include the Winton Motor Raceway, a popular circuit just a short 10 minute drive from town. The track is host to some of Australia’s biggest motorsport events and competitions.

Benalla’s Aquatic Centre is a modern fitness multiplex with four quality pools and hydrotherapy pool, health club with a large extent of exercise equipment, group fitness room and outdoor areas alongside Lake Benalla. The centre provides a number of workout and wellness programs to participate in during your stay.

Parks & Reserves

Notable parks and outdoor attractions include Lake Benalla, a beautiful and rather long lake stretching through the town’s centre with an uncomplicated walking track weaving past the local boardwalks, neighbouring red gum bushland, and of course, a stop at the Benalla Botanical Gardens along the way is essential. Featuring the iconic Rose Garden, picturesque established parkland and elm tree lined paths and cycling tracks.

Mount Samaria State Park is another magnificent venture, a 50min drive from Benalla and worth the trip. The eucalypt forest is a peaceful location with BBQ facilities, bushwalking trails and camping sites. Sections of this large park offer stunning views of the Victorian Alps and sites of historical significance.

Reef Hills State Park is much closer to town with rustic bushland amongst native tussock grasses, wildflowers and other unique native vegetation. The park is suitable for walking, cycling, picnics, camping, horse-riding and most interestingly fossicking for gold.

Golf

Benalla Golf Course is an immaculately kept 18 hole course with Santa Ana fairways and greens encircled by striking bushland that often beckons curious wildlife such as kangaroos to the green. Visitors are most welcome to participate in club competitions and use the club facilities, including club Golf Shop and quality bistro within the licenced clubhouse.
